Where can I drop off clothing and other donations?

We currently do not have a permanent home. We operate of volunteer’s houses and local churches. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact us and we will arrange a time convenient for you that we can pick them up or we can let you know when we have a drop-off day nearby.

So, what items do you accept?

2 Shirts Ministry accepts clothing. Our primary focus is employee uniforms, weather gear, company polos, and other corporate swag clothing. Many of these items cannot (or should not) be donated for a variety of reasons. We extend the useful life of such items –and protect brand integrity—by removing branding and replacing it. It’s a little more sustainable and keeps items out of landfills.

We also accept regular retail clothing, gently used shoes, boots, and accessories. New, in-package socks and underwear is a huge help as well.

2 Shirts will also take office supplies such as copier/printer paper, scrapbook paper, card stock in addition to fabric scraps, clothes hangers, and free and clear laundry detergents.

Should I donate my clothing items to Goodwill or Salvation Army? Why should I give them to 2 Shirts?

You should give you items where you feel called to donate them. However, unlike other organizations and thrift shops, we do not sell the items we are given. We make sure that your generous contributions are used to help people in our local community.  For more information, read our blog post

Are my donations tax deductible?

We are a 501(c)3 charity and donations are deductible. We provide receipts with a description of the items you contribute and/or the amount of a monetary donation. IRS regulations do not permit us to provide you a dollar amount for clothing or other non-cash items you donate.

I need clothing, can I get some from you?

Most of our clothing items are given to organizations and ministries that serve the unsheltered homeless and children and families in need. We are also currently building an infrastructure to assist disaster relief efforts.

Do you believe in sustainability?

We believe that we are called to love every person. We believe that we must also be good stewards of the resources we are provided. There is far too much waste in our modern society and we hate to see perfectly good things get disposed of when there is a need for them.

We make every effort to efficiently and effectively use everything we are provided. Any clothing we receive that cannot be distributed due to holes, tears, stains, and other damage, is set aside for other purposes.

We transform spoiled items into other things such as cedar sachets to use in storage, as parts of arts and crafts we can use for fundraising gifts, and so on. We plan on working toward transforming a majority of it into homemade paper that we can use for the care cards we provide with each garment.

Whether or not we are sustainable is up for you to decide; however, we strive to be responsible in everything we do.

What do you do with money you receive?

Well, some of it goes to purchasing patches and transfers to cover old logos removed from uniforms and corporate clothing. We also need supplies for laundering, sorting, storing, and distributing clothing. We work to keep our overhead costs as low as possible, but we still have to pay for supplies, licenses, fees, postage, and everything a for-profit business pays for. We also need equipment and keep it well-maintained. We manage every penny as efficiently and responsibly as we can. You can check out our annual tax filings on Guidestar.
